Holy Trinity Catholic Church has been serving the Oak Lawn community at the corner of Oak Lawn Ave. and Blackburn for over 100 years. We serve a diverse and growing community from all over the Dallas area. Please take some time to explore our ministries and opportunities. OUR HISTORY

Legacy & Growth

Holy Trinity, now nestled in a bustling city, originated as a mission church a century ago in the sparsely populated areas of Oak Lawn and Highland Park. Bishop Edward J. Dunne convinced the Vincentian Fathers to establish Holy Trinity College in ‘Far North’ Dallas. The college, later renamed the University of Dallas, and a small frame church were built in 1905. Father Patrick A. Finney, a scholar of Greek, served as the college’s organizer and Holy Trinity’s first pastor. Despite the college closing in 1926, the Vincentian Fathers continued their missionary efforts in North Texas, traveling long distances to small mission churches. The parish thrived, recording 8oo families in 1939.In the late 1950s and 1600s the Vincentians’ missionary focus shifted inward, coinciding with increased interest in the Catholic Church in Dallas, Formation classes led to numerous conversions, averaging 50-60 a year. Today, Holy Trinity continues its missionary tradition through lay ministries engaging in community service.
