Robert F. Prevost - 267th pope !

Pope Leo XIV

Cardinal Robert F. Prevost, a Chicago native, was elected pope on May 8, 2025, taking the name Pope Leo XIV and making history as the first North American to lead the Catholic Church. His election followed a conclave that concluded with white smoke and a joyful announcement to the crowds in St. Peter’s Square.

In his first public address, Pope Leo emphasized themes of peace, inclusivity, and continuity with the vision of Pope Francis. He called for a Church that is open to all, one that builds bridges, embraces dialogue, and remains close to those who suffer. Highlighting his commitment to a missionary and synodal Church, he urged Catholics to move forward together, united in love and justice.

Pope Leo brings a rich background to the papacy as a member of the Augustinian order, with decades of service in Peru and leadership roles in both the U.S. and the global Church. Fluent in multiple languages and academically trained in theology and mathematics, he is widely respected for his pastoral sensitivity and global perspective.

Faith isn’t taught alone—it’s caught in community.

Youth Catechesis Volunteer Recruitment

At Holy Trinity, we see sharing our faith as one of the most meaningful gifts we can give the next generation. Whether you’re guiding a young child through their first prayer or supporting a teen as they explore deep questions, being a catechist has the power to make a real difference. You don’t have to be a theology expert—just someone who loves Jesus and is open to journeying with others. We’ll equip you with the training, resources, and encouragement you need. All it takes is your willingness to say “yes.”
