Safe Environment Program – Diocese of Dallas

As Christian adults, we are morally and legally responsible for the well-being of children. It is our duty to provide a safe, nurturing environment in all diocesan activities.

Goals

  • Recognize and report signs of abuse or misconduct.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries in all interactions.
  • Create a safe, welcoming space for all participants.
  • Follow diocesan policies and procedures for child safety.
  • Commit to ongoing training and renewal requirements.

Volunteer Requirements

  1. Screening
    Complete a screening form
    Consent to an initial criminal background check and subsequently every two years
  2. Personal Interview
  3. Reference checks
  4. Annual Training
  5. Supervision
    Ensuring that two or more adults are present for events
  6. Guidelines
    All volunteers must adhere to the guidelines as stated in the Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment Program for Schools and Parishes
  7. Reporting all incidents

Returning Volunteers

Verify Clearance

In the Diocese of Dallas, Training is required every 12 months. Check the Safe Environment portal to verify your clearance.

Who needs to be screened?

Screening Is Required For

 

All clergy and staff of the parish and school.

All volunteers working with minors (under 18) or vulnerable adults (individuals unable to recognize or remove themselves from danger).

Already Cleared at another Parish?

If you have been screened and cleared at another parish in the Diocese of Dallas, please send a verification document to our church office to the attention of Margaret Hart.
