Teen Volunteers
Ages 13 - 17
Teen ministry at Holy Trinity Catholic Church is centered on helping young people build an authentic relationship with Christ while discovering their identity, purpose, and place within the Church community. Our volunteers are not simply instructors, they are mentors, role models, cheerleaders, and consistent witnesses of the Catholic faith during some of the most important and formative years of a young person’s life.
Today’s teens are searching for belonging, truth, purpose, and genuine connection. Our goal is to create a ministry where they feel seen, welcomed, challenged, and supported as they grow spiritually and personally. Whether through weekly classes, Bible studies, retreats, Teen Nights, service opportunities, or simple conversations, volunteers help create a community where teens can encounter God in a meaningful and lasting way.
We especially believe that consistent adult presence matters. Sometimes the most impactful moments in ministry happen not during a lesson, but through relationships built week after week through listening, encouragement, and simply showing up.
Our Teen Faith Formation program is divided into First Year and Second Year formation tracks. Students attend one weekly session based on the evening that works best for their schedule.

Program Focus
First Year Formation
First Year students focus on inquiry and foundational faith formation. Throughout the year, students:
- Explore the Catholic faith and Sacraments
- Ask questions and deepen their understanding of Christianity
- Participate in a full Bible Timeline study that helps connect salvation history and Scripture as one unified story
Second Year Formation
Second Year students actively prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation through:
- Church history studies
- A full Catechism study
- Deeper discussions on discipleship, prayer, vocation, and Catholic identity
- Sacramental preparation and spiritual growth
Volunteer Expectations
Teen volunteers and Catechists are expected to:
- Accompany students during their chosen weekly class time
- Review prepared lesson plans ahead of class
- Help foster discussion, engagement, and community within the classroom
- Build relationships with students and encourage participation
Both First and Second Year programs provide:
Thoroughly outlined lesson plans
Structured curriculum support
Flexibility to adapt lessons to fit the needs and personality of each class
Our goal is to equip volunteers with the tools they need while also allowing room for authentic discussion and creativity within the classroom.
Important Needs Within the Program
All Teen classes are currently taught in English
We would love to have at least one bilingual volunteer in every classroom
We especially need more male Catechists and volunteers to serve as positive Catholic role models for our young men
ID Teens is the heart of our broader Teen Ministry community and focuses on helping teens discover their identity in Christ while building friendships and deeper connections within the Church.
Teens meet every other Friday for:
- Themed Teen Nights
- Discussions and small groups
- Games and social events
- Prayer and worship opportunities
During Lent, ID Teens transitions into a deeper weekly Bible Study experience. Throughout the summer, we continue ministry through:
- Game Nights
- Movie Nights
- Community events
- Fellowship opportunities
Many students involved in ID Teens are also participating in Sacramental Preparation, but our vision goes beyond preparing students for Confirmation. We want to give teens a reason to continue showing up, building community, and growing in faith long after they receive the Sacrament.
We desperately want to continue expanding the Teen Ministry program, but we cannot do that without more volunteers willing to invest in the lives of our young people.
ID Teens Volunteer Roles
Core Team
The leadership and planning team responsible for helping shape the vision, themes, events, and structure of Teen Ministry throughout the year. Core Team members often flex into other roles as needed, and lead the events, programs and talks depending on the requirements of the week.
Table Leads
Table Leads serve directly with students during discussions and activities, helping facilitate conversations, encourage participation, and build relationships with teens in a small group environment.
Service Coordinators
Service Coordinators help organize volunteer projects, outreach opportunities, and service experiences that allow teens to live out their faith through action and community involvement.
Prayer Team
The Prayer Team supports the ministry spiritually by praying intentionally for students, volunteers, and events while also helping lead prayer opportunities during Teen Nights, Bible studies, and retreats.
Teen ministry changes lives because relationships change lives. Every volunteer who shows up consistently becomes part of a community that helps young people know they are loved, valued, and called by God. Whether your gifts are teaching, mentoring, organizing, praying, listening, or simply being present, there is a place for you within Teen Faith Formation.
